ARM The Architecture For The Digital World

Technology Solutions for Healthcare and Medical Devices

19 October 2010

Venue: Building 3, Floor 1, Microsoft Campus, Thames Valley Park, Reading, RG6 1WG
Location: Reading, UK

NuHorizons in conjunction with MPC Data invite you to a seminar in partnership with ARM and Microsoft which focuses on designing equipment for the healthcare and medical market.

Presentations from experts within the industry throughout the seminar program will cover healthcare and medical markets as a whole and highlight the application of technology in the various Embedded Equipment types. The talks will cover major aspects of the design flow when taking a conceptual idea in the lab through the engineering development of prototypes and then ramping into volume manufacture.

The talks will include overviews of the requisite standards and certifications in the “Clinical”, “Imaging” & “Home” devices and highlight how advances in semiconductor technology have increased the data handling and communication capability of these equipments but also enabled radically smaller form factors and price points.

ARM designs technology that lies at the heart of advanced digital products and will discuss the processor technology that is available in the industry today.

Microsoft provides a range of Operating Systems targeted at embedded systems, with features designed to ensure reliability, low power and high performance. Windows Embedded is used extensively in medical and healthcare systems for applications as diverse as health monitoring devices to ultrasound equipment. Some of the benefits gained from the Microsoft OS and embedded features will be described.

The seminar is aimed primarily at design engineers and managers in companies planning to start designing and building equipment for the healthcare and medical market. The seminar will however also be of interest to research scientists who will gain some industry insights how to commercialise their ideas and projects. Finally there will be a small exhibition area with companies and consultancies that have products and services for the medical and healthcare market.
