Branding guidelines for licensees of the Arm technology license agreement

Please follow these guidelines if you hold a valid technology license agreement from Arm. If your existing agreement states that you are not obliged to use Arm’s trademarks under any or certain circumstances only then please follow these guidelines and substitute "may" for "shall", where "shall" appears below, if appropriate. Please contact our trademarks team if you have any questions:

  1. Die encapsulation (die package)
    • You shall apply the Arm corporate logo to the die encapsulation (die package) of each unit of any ARM Compliant Product (as defined in your agreement) that you distribute. However, you will not be obliged to apply the logo if you provide prior written evidence to Arm that:
      1. your customer has requested that the die package of the relevant ARM Compliant Product(s) should not feature any trademark whatsoever or it should only bear your customer’s trademark; or
      2. there is insufficient physical space on the die package of the relevant ARM Compliant Product to apply both your trademark and the Arm corporate logo.

Where you distribute ARM Compliant Products to an Intermediary (as defined below), the packaging of each unit of such ARM Compliant Product so distributed must bear a mark which unambiguously identifies you as the manufacturing source of the ARM Compliant Product. If the packaging of the ARM Compliant Product cannot accommodate your mark because of size limitations, then you shall include a prominent statement indicating that you are the manufacturing source of the ARM Compliant Product (e.g. "Manufactured by [licensee identity] under license from Arm Limited") in substantially all advertising material and promotional, technical or other documentation, including press releases, associated with the ARM Compliant Product and you shall oblige any Intermediary to do the same.

"Intermediary" means any third party to whom you distribute an ARM Compliant Product and who is not an End User; and

"End User" means any person or other legal entity which licenses an ARM Compliant Product for its own personal use or for use in the ordinary course of its business but not for onward sale, distribution or sublicensing.
