Active Health Monitoring

After a long day gathering reindeer in the forests of Finland, a group of herders sat over coffee discussing ways to use modern-day tools to help with the challenges of this traditional livelihood.

Reindeer herding still has an important role in Finland's image as a Nordic country, and so Anicare was created to help keep it a profitable and meaningful source of livelihood, now and in the future.

Designed to withstand the harsh arctic climate, the Anicare Rudolf device is arguably one of the smallest IOT devices used to measure animal activity and send alert notifications to the herders. Rudolf can detect animal health from it activity and heat, while the app lets the user share information with others and manage the herd.

Featured Technology

Rudolf uses the Nordic Semiconductor nRF91 module based on the Arm Cortex-M33 processor and works on the NB-IoT and LTE-M networks with GPS. Key to the product’s success was the circuitry’s small size and low power consumption.
