Title : Cortex-M MCUs – A deeper dive into the Cortex-M4 and Cortex-M0+

Join ARM as we explore the Kinetis family of ARM Cortex™-M-based mixed signal MCUs from Freescale. In this session we will dive into the features of the new Cortex-M0+ and Cortex-M4 cores found in the Freescale Kinetis family. We explore the low power architecture, the Floating Point Unit, power management features, SIMD Instructions (Single Instruction Multiple Data) and much more.

Learn about …

  • the ARM Cortex-M family Architecture
  • the multiple levels of energy management in Kinetis family of MCUs
  • the DSP and FPU functions of the ARM Cortex-M4 and Cortex-M0+
  • the debug infrastructure within the Cortex-M family

General Agenda:

  • Introduction to the ARM Cortex-M Architecture
    • Overview of features common to all Cortex-M MCUs
  • Cortex-M4 deep dive
    • Configurations (NVIC, bus interfaces, power modes, etc.)
    • DSP and FPU instructions
    • MPU
  • Cortex-M0+ deep dive
    • Configurations (NVIC, bus interfaces, power modes, etc.)
    • Low Latency Peripheral Port
    • Micro Trace Buffer

Presenter:  Drew Barbier, Field Applications Engineer, ARM, possesses extensive experience in the engineering of new ARM processor-based products. His engineering background and innovative approach to providing working solutions is a great asset to both the customers he supports and the sales teams at ARM. Drew’s experience gives him a unique perspective in all aspects of design from concept development, defining design requirements, user interface design, hardware/software integration to troubleshooting and support of the final product.
