ARM strengthens ATC program with addition of two centers in Tokyo, Japan

CAMBRIDGE, UK – Aug. 13, 2002 - ARM [(LSE: ARM); (Nasdaq: ARMHY)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC processor solutions, today announced the strengthening of its ARM Approved Training Center (ATC) Program with the addition of two centers in Japan.

Yokogawa Digital Computer Corporation (YDC) and ANDOR System Support, both based in Tokyo, are already members of theARM Developer Systems Distributor Network. Their addition to the ATC program will greatly strengthen ARM's ability to provide the highest quality, targeted training to Japanese companies.

"We had an excellent year with the first centers, which are now well established in Europe, and have wanted to extend the program into the Asia Pacific region for some time," said Chris Shore, ATC Program manager, ARM. "The addition of ANDOR and YDC to our ATC program is a natural extension of our existing relationships with the companies, and will allow us to better serve increasing need for ARM® technology training in Japan."

"As a long-standing ARM distributor, we have welcomed the opportunity to join the ATC program in Japan," said Chiharu Takei, senior executive director, YDC. "We believe that out customers will benefit from the increased range of services which we can offer them through this partnership."

As ARM will continue to offer its own highly-regarded training courses in Japan, the theme is very much of partnership and cooperation to ensure wide geographical coverage and maximum training availability throughout the year. This will allow companies from all over Japan to receive local language training when and where they need it.

"As a new ARM distributor, this new training partnership is important for our future growth," said Takashi Ugajin, director of the Embedded Solutions Division, ANDOR. "We believe that this will build on our existing relationship and enhance the service which we are able to provide to our customers in Japan."

Since its inception less than a year ago, the ATC program has grown quickly in Europe where there are now three member companies. Working in close collaboration with ARM, these companies have achieved significant net growth in ARM training activity within Europe. The move into Japan is expected to be the first step in establishing a much wider network of centers in the region.

About the ARM ATC Program
The ATC program has been established to satisfy the growing demand for training in ARM technology for ARM semiconductor Partners, OEMs and design centers worldwide. Through the program, ARM recruits and works with a network of approved Partners who are trained, qualified, and equipped with ARM material and software tools, enabling them to provide high-quality, certified training into their own markets and regions.

ATC Partners must go through a strict qualification process to become an ARM Approved Training Center. This includes an assessment of their success in the marketplace, intensive training for their teaching staff, and a facilities audit. All ATC Partners are continuously monitored to ensure that the quality of training remains high.

Current ARM Approved Training Centers include Microconsult GmbH in Munich, Germany; Mikroelektronik Akademie in Hanover, Germany; and Phoenix Technologies in Tel Aviv, Israel.
