LSI Logic Licenses New ARM11 Cores

Highest performance 32-bit synthesizeable microprocessor cores provides ideal processing power for data-intensive SoC applications

MILPITAS, CALIF. and CAMBRIDGE, UK – Oct. 15, 2002 – LSI Logic Corporation (NYSE:LSI) and ARM [(LSE:ARM) (Nasdaq:ARMHY)], the industry's leading provider of 16/32-bit embedded RISC microprocessor solutions, today announced that LSI Logic has licensed the new ARM1136J-S™ core and the ARM1136JF-S™ core for use in system-on-chip (SoC) designs for the communications, consumer and storage markets. Announced yesterday, the new cores are ARM's first offering based on the company's ARM11™ microarchitecture and are the fastest synthesizable microprocessor cores in the market providing coverage to applications requiring the 400MHz to 600MHz range of performance. LSI Logic is initially implementing the ARM1136 cores into its Gflx™ 0.11 micron (drawn) high-performance process technology.
