HISYS Technology Licenses ARM9 Family Processor for Mobile and Consumer Applications

CAMBRIDGE, UK – Nov. 22, 2005 – ARM [(LSE: ARM); (Nasdaq: ARMHY)] today announced that Shanghai Jiaoda HISYS Technology Corp. Ltd. (HISYS Technology), a spin-off from the IC & System Research Center Laboratory of Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU), has licensed the ARM922TTM processor. Through the ARM® Foundry Program, this licensing agreement will enable HISYS Technology to develop ARM Powered® system-on-chip (SoC) solutions to address the growing low power, high-performance demands of the mobile and consumer entertainment markets in China.

SJTU had previously licensed the ARM922T processor through the ARM University Program in 2003. The agreement provides postgraduates and IC engineers at the IC & System Research Center Laboratory access to advanced ARM technology for SoC research. This new licensing agreement further extends HISYS Technology’s existing partnership with ARM and enables HISYS Technology to bring its research successes to the commercial market.

The ARM922T processor features the Thumb® instruction set which provides maximum code-density for minimal system memory size and cost as well as industry-leading power for maximum battery life and performance. In addition, the ARM922T processor also features the Memory Management Unit (MMU), which supports all major operating systems and middleware.

The first ARM922T technology-based product from HISYS Technology will be available in the first quarter of 2006.
