 | What does RealView ICE do in its boot sequence? / The RealView ICE boot sequence doesn’t finish / LED B doesn’t stop blinking | Applies to: JTAG Debug Issues, RVD Debug, RealView ICE (RVI)
| When a RealView ICE unit is powered up, the following steps take place: The RealView ICE main processor boots from on-board flash and starts to load its operating system from the Compact Flash. LED B flashes at 1Hz. RealView ICE networking starts. If the RealView ICE unit doesn't have a fixed static IP, it tries to get one from a DHCP server. LED B flashes at 2Hz.
Note: new units default to obtaining a IP address from a DHCP server. Starts RealView ICE server software. LED B flashes at 4Hz. RealView ICE ready to connect. LED B is ON.
The rate at which RealView ICE flashes LED B is important in understanding where things are going wrong. If LED B flashes at 1Hz, RealView ICE is failing to boot from the Compact Flash (CF). This can be caused by the CF module coming loose. You can fix it by powering down the unit, opening it and pushing the CF module into its socket. If this does not solve the problem, please contact your local office to send the RealView ICE unit for repair. This is not expected to happen in a normal situation. If LED B flashes at 2Hz, RealView ICE is trying to get its IP address from a DHCP server. If the network does not have a DHCP server, the RealView ICE unit must be re-configured to use a static IP address using the RealView ICE Config IP utility. How to use this utility is explained in the RealView ICE documentation. If you have problems detecting the RealView ICE unit, please see the FAQ entry: I cannot see my RealView ICE unit on the network with the RealView ICE Config IP utility
