downarrowWhat image formats does RVD support?
Applies to: RVD Debug, RealView Developer Suite (RVDS) 2.0, RealView Developer Suite (RVDS) 2.1, RealView Developer Suite (RVDS) 2.2, RealView Development Suite (RVDS) 3.0, RealView Development Suite (RVDS) 3.1

RVD is tested with ELF images built with the ARM RVCT family of compilation tools. In most instances RVD will also successfully consume images built with the older ARM toochains (ADS and SDT). It is recommended that the version of RVD used is from the same (or a later) RVDS release as your compilation tools.

RVD v1.8 and later introduce explicit support for ELF images built with GCC versions 3.2 and 3.41.8. Earlier versions of GCC are not officially supported. It may be possible to load these images, although the debug view may suffer from some restrictions, e.g., stack backtrace is not supported. Note that COFF format images will require converting to ELF format using our coff2elf utility before they can be consumed by RVD.
