For how long is my accreditation valid?
The accreditations that are currently available in the AAE program do not expire. By passing the test and becoming accredited, you have demonstrated that you have met the required standard of knowledge of ARM technology. You will not need to be retested on a periodic basis. As newer ARM architecture versions and technologies become available, we may introduce further exams to match these architectures. Existing Accredited Engineers may wish to take such new exams to update their skills.

Questions about the AAME accreditation
What’s the best way to prepare for this exam?
Every student’s learning journey will be different depending on where they are starting from and how much effort they are prepared to dedicate to obtaining the accreditation. Generally speaking we would recommend that candidates consider taking the following actions:
- Study the AAME Syllabus document – This will give you a full breakdown of exactly what subject areas are covered by the AAME exam and an indication of the depth to which you will need to learn them.
- Decide which areas of the syllabus you are already familiar with and which you need to spend some more time learning about. Plan your study around the areas you need to spend time on.
- Read the appropriate sections of the necessary learning resources.
- Test your understanding of the subject matter by taking the mock tests.
- When you feel you know the subject matter sufficiently well, register for the exam at www.prometric.com/arm.

How does the AAME accreditation differ from the AAE accreditation?
The AAME exam is focused on ARMv6-M and ARMv7-M Cortex-M technology so it is aimed at embedded microcontroller engineers, whereas the AAE Accreditation is focused on ARMv7-A Cortex-A technology and is therefore aimed at embedded application processor engineers. Apart from the difference in subject matter focus the AAME exam is very similar in format and difficulty level to the AAE exam. It consists of the same number of items and is delivered in the same way.
