ARM to Present the Benefits for Cortex-A8 and OMAP3 Processors at Texas Instruments Developer Conference

What:  The ARM® Cortex™-A8 processor, which is at the heart of the OMAP™3 family of devices, is an advanced superscalar machine capable of delivering desktop-class performance in a low-power envelope. It is the first applications processor based on the ARMv7 architecture and is the highest performance, most power-efficient ARM technology-based processor shipping today and capable of delivering the full-internet experience for on-the-go devices.

With its ability to scale in speed from 600MHz to greater than 1GHz, the Cortex-A8 processor can meet the requirements for power-optimized mobile devices needing operation in less than 300mW; and performance-optimized consumer applications requiring 2000 Dhrystone MIPS.

During this session entitled ARM Cortex-A8 : The Advanced Microprocessor Technology at the Heart of OMAP™ 3 Processors, ARM’s director of CPU marketing, Nandan Nayampally, will present the Cortex-A8 processor, which is ARM’s first superscalar processor featuring  Thumb®-2 technology for enhanced code density and performance,  NEON™ technology for real-time multimedia and signal processing, and Jazelle® RCT (Runtime Compilation Target) technology for efficient support of run-time compilation of Java and other bytecode languages.
