WHAT: ARM [(LSE:ARM); (Nasdaq:ARMHY)] is the leading architecture for worldwide shipments of commercial embedded operating systems (OS), bundled products and related services with 32 percent of the total dollar volume, based on the results of a report by Venture Development Corporation (VDC).

The 2005 Embedded Software Strategic Market Intelligence Program “Embedded/Real-Time Operating Systems” report concludes that the ARM architecture surpassed all competitors, with the closest coming in at approximately 26 percent and stated that ARM’s growth “continues to be driven by wireless devices across multiple vertical markets and aggressive ARM support for a wide range of embedded and real-time operating systems”.
