The MDC, a plug-in card for the OMAP35x EVM, supports both video and camera input in addition to a high-speed USB 2.0 port. The card plugs into the expansion connector present on the main board of the OMAP35x EVM. The MDC enables users to capture video, via S-Video which can be processed by the OMAP3530 application processor. The card provides a HSUSB HOST port and a camera connector for camera input. The MDC will support future daughter cards, Mistral confirmed. “The Multimedia Daughter Card is a much awaited addition to the OMAP35x EVM,” said Samyeer Metrani, VP-Design Services (USA), and Mistral Solutions. “The addition of multimedia video input enhances the functionality to the EVM by allowing customers who want to prototype devices with camera capabilities.” The OMAP 3 platform is based on the ARM Cortex-A8 core. With more than four times the processing power of today's 300MHz ARM9 devices, OMAP35x devices integrate the superscalar 600 MHz Cortex-A8 core is integrated into four applications processors. The modular and extensible OMAP35x EVM includes the OMAP35x Linux board support package and Windows Embedded CE 6.0 board support package.
