Conexant Solution For Advanced Multifunction Printers

Conexant Systems, Inc., a member of the ARM Connected Community, has rolled out a system-on-chip (SoC) controller, for advanced color and monochrome laser and inkjet multifunction (MFP) printers with copy, fax, and scan capabilities, based on an ARM core.

The CX92235 integrates a high-performance Digicolor image processor that enables color copying speeds of up to 30 pages per minute, according to Conexant.

The highly integrated SoC includes support for color LCDs and connectivity options such as Ethernet and wireless networking. In addition, the fully programmable device allows manufacturers to develop multiple products with a single imaging SoC, which reduces engineering development and bill-of-material costs, the company said.

The CX92235 is based on an ARM9 core with memory management and a vector floating point processor that delivers the processing power required for high-speed imaging applications. The high-performance processor, along with additional imaging hardware blocks, enables fast raster image processing for page description languages (PDLs), which improves complex text and graphics laser-printing speeds, and is an essential feature for PC-independent printing applications. Other key features include support for tandem color laser printers and an advanced image processor based on a dualimage-pipeline architecture that automatically segments text from photos, and optimally processes the images without degrading system performance.

A complete hardware and software development kit is available to simplify product-development efforts and allows designers to deliver product to market more quickly, the company confirmed.
