BSQUARE Shipping 3G Dev Kit For TI OMAP35x Module & Win CE 6

BSQUARE Corp., a member of the ARM Connected Community, is shipping a 3G Dev Kit for the Texas Instruments (TI) OMAP35x evaluation module (EVM) and Microsoft Windows CE 6 operating system.

The kit enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to incorporate 3G data connectivity in their TI OMAP35x processor-based designs with significantly reduced technical risks, saving them up to 60 percent of the time typically required to integrate and test Windows CE in an embedded 3G design, the company said.

The 3G Dev Kit includes a Sierra Wireless MC5727 embedded radio module certified for EV-DO Revision A networks, pre-integrated Windows CE 6 radio interface layer (RIL) software and an interface board to connect the embedded radio to the TI OMAP35x EVM.  With BSQUARE’s off-the-shelf solution, OEMs can immediately start developing data-based applications such as digital signs, vending machines, point-of-service devices and data collection terminals with web browsing and seamless access to email, office or Internet, the company said.

Developed with Mistral Solutions, the OMAP35x Evaluation Module (EVM) enables developers to start immediate evaluation of OMAP processors and begin building low power applications such as digital TV, navigation, games, data terminals, point of sale / service, software defined radio, medical, media controllers and numerous other low power, high performance products that have yet to be invented, TI explained.

Featuring the OMAP35x high-performance Superscalar ARM Cortex-A8 with NEON co-processing this EVM will allow developers to evaluate and jumpstart development. Equipped with daughter card expansion connections, the OMAP35x EVM can be used to prototype complete systems and is upgradeable to support future OMAP35x processors.
