eCosCentric Unveils eCosPro For ARM Cortex-M3 eCosCentric Limited, have announced the availability of an architectural port of the eCosPro real-time operating system to the ARM Cortex-M3 processor. The architecture port includes the pre-emptive multi-threading operating system as well as RedBoot bootstrap firmware, taking full advantage of the Thumb2 instruction set for greater code density and the nested vector interrupt controller, the company explained. "The Cortex-M3 processor line has been designed for the deeply embedded microcontroller and low-cost application segment where eCos' strengths of real-time performance in resource constrained systems with low deployment costs are of vital importance," said Daniel Morris, Sales & Marketing Director at eCosCentric. "We've seen demand building very quickly for eCos based Cortex-M3 solutions as designers choose from the growing range of innovative parts that ARM licensees have recently introduced." eCosCentric said the eCosPro Developer's Kits will be released in the coming weeks, and will initially be available for STMicroelectronics’ STM32 implementation, with full support for core peripherals, Thumb2 instruction set, on-chip flash and memory controllers. Integrated debug support is included with the Eclipse-based IDE for a choice of JTAG probes.
