3D World Demo On NVIDIA APX500 Next Generation Platform EitaroSoft showed of its 3D virtual world service, dubbed “Lamity”on the NVIDIA Tegra APX2500 at NVISION 2008 in California last month. NVIDIA, a member of the ARM Connected Community, unveiled the APX 2500 at the beginning of this year. It is based on an ARM11 core, handles 720p (1280 x 720) video, and supports HDMI output. The APX 2500 runs Windows Mobile directly on an ARM11-based core. Lamity allows a maximum 400 people to simultaneously access a virtual town within the service. Unlike many other virtual world services which require a high performance PC, Lamity can run on a mobile phone. Lamity was demoed at NVISION 2008 event as an advanced 3D application using NVIDIA Tegra APX 2500. Devices incorporating the APX 2500 are expected to begin shipping at the end of this year.
