Actel Expands Chip Ecosystem for Low-Power FPGAs To enable embedded designers to easily add microcontroller functionality to their low-power field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), Actel Corporation, a member of the ARM Connected Community, has broadened its support for industry-standard processors. Actel offers a range of processor technologies, from its small CoreABC to the high performance ARM Cortex-M1 processor. To support these cores, Actel has added new software drivers for 15 subsystem IP cores as well as hardware abstraction layer (HAL) support. Additionally, Actel partner Micrium has ported and validated its uC/OS-II RTOS for use with the company's FPGA-optimized ARM Cortex-M1 processor. The new software drivers and HALs are available for free download from Actel's web site www.actel.com. The Micrium uC/OS-II RTOS can be downloaded for free from Micrium's web site www.micrium.com for evaluation or development.
