Samsung Targets Portable Navigation Devices

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., a member of the ARM Connected Community, is leveraging its experience and ARM partnership to target the personal navigation device market (PND).

As well as the fast growing PND market, Samsung is also targeting the two other fastest growing markets in the consumer electronics sector - digital photo frames (DPF), and mobile Internet devices (MID).

“The ability to access the Internet and web services anytime anywhere is the future of next-generation consumer devices,” said Dr. Yiwan Wong, vice president of marketing for Samsung’s System LSI Division. “Our application processor (AP) product roadmap puts us squarely at the center of this next CE wave, positioning Samsung to be the vendor of choice for cost-effective connected CE devices.”

“Today’s consumers want electronic devices that are personal, always on, always connected, and with full Internet capabilities,” said Ian Drew, vice president, Segment Marketing, ARM. “As a valued partner, Samsung delivers to design engineers a complete SoC architecture solution on the latest ARM processors with high quality multimedia capabilities and lower power consumption.”
