Devicescape Debuts Wireless Infrastructure Platform 2.0
Devicescape Software has announced the availability of Wireless Infrastructure 2.0 (WIP), developed to enable device manufacturers
to create wireless access points for “offices without wires”.
According to Jupiter Research, nearly 80 percent of large U.S. companies have deployed wireless networks.
WIP, which supports ARM/Xscale, includes a customisable Linux access point distribution, tools and support. .
Via WIP, manufacturers can develop and offer full-featured, enterprise-class access points for any size organisation that
are secure, easy-to-manage and that seamlessly integrate into existing networks, according to Devicescape. In addition vendors
of specialised Wi-Fi equipment, such as hotspot and public-safety infrastructure, can utilise Devicescape WIP to leverage
high-end WLAN features into their products.
Many businesses often find the productivity benefits of wireless are overshadowed by setup and maintenance headaches,” said
David Fraser, CEO of Devicescape. “With Devicescape WIP, device manufacturers can now make it possible for any organization
to very simply build and manage a secure wireless network, the first critical step to establishing a devicescape.”
Devicescape’s WIP 2.0 will be available by July 15, 2005.
