USB-Powered Beagle Board Based On ARM Cortex-A8 For $149 Digi-Key announced this week it is shipping the Beagle Board based on the Texas Instruments’ OMAP3530 application processor featuring an ARM Cortex-A8 clocked at up to 600 Mhz, a 2D/3D graphics engine and high-performance TMS320C64x+ DSP core. This will be the first time users have access to a low cost development board featuring a high-end ARM processor. The 3 inch by 3 inch Beagle Board is an inexpensive, fanless single board computer with the expandability of a desktop machine but without the bulk, expense or noise. The board can be USB powered and features flexible expansion through USB and standard PC peripherals. The Beagle Board, priced at $149, runs Linux and comes with 128 MB RAM. Open source and small developer community looking for a low-cost option for ARM Cortex-A8 application development are encouraged to join an active and growing open source community already participating via BeagleBoard.org.
