Digi Debut ARM9 Based Embedded Device Server Digi International has debuted the ARM powered Digi Connect ME 9210, an embedded device server, to its Digi Connect ME family. Digit said the Connect ME 9210 is especially suited for Ethernet enabling mission critical devices.“It’s fast, has plenty of memory for complex applications, and can connect to more peripherals like sensors, speakers, microphones and serial printers than any other embedded device server. This powerful combination means it can handle the most challenging of devices that need Ethernet network connectivity, explained Larry Kraft, senior vice president of global sales and marketing, Digi International. The Digi Connect ME 9210 incorporates Digi’s recently introduced NS9210 ARM9 microprocessor processor, and 8MB RAM and 2 or 4 MB Flash. It also features a number of peripheral interfaces including serial, SPI, I2C, GIO, CAN, 1-wire and integrated Flexible Interface Modules (FIMs). FIMS provide custom interfaces for tailoring the module to the users’ exact application needs. The Digi Connect ME 9210 i embedded module features an integrated, NIST-certified AES accelerator that provides secure network communication with SSL/TLS and IPsec protocols. The accelerator encrypts and decrypts data streams up to 10 times faster than a software-only solution and provides strong data privacy for any customer information stored or transmitted by the module, according to the company. The Digi Connect ME 9210 also features power-over-Ethernet (PoE) support to allow the design of devices that require no external power and Digi Dynamic Power Control, a complete set of hardware and software features for product designs that demand low-power consumption and advanced power management.
