What is the scope of your role?
I am responsible for TRANGO's sales and operations in North America. Operations includes marketing, business development, human resources, legal, and finance.

Synopsis of your career path?
I began my career as an engineer in Motorola's Cellular Infrastructure Group in Chicago. I transferred down to Austin when the PowerPC initiative started up and worked as an Applications Engineer. When it looked like Apple was going out of business in the mid-90's, I left to join ARM as a Field Applications Engineer. I then moved into Strategic Partner Sales, FAE management, and ultimately Fabric IP Marketing. I joined TRANGO in March of this year.

What attracted you to work in the IT industry?
As a child, I was always naturally curious as to how things worked. In high school I took some computer classes, and that got me hooked.

What skill in your job couldn't you do without in your role?
Touchtyping!

What is your biggest personal achievement?
Building high-performing FAE and Fabric Marketing teams at ARM was the most rewarding.

What 1-2 key lessons would you pass onto a colleague or recent college/university graduate about working in your business?
First, don't enter it for the money; do it because you enjoy it. Secondly, the "best" product from a purely technical perspective doesn't always win in the marketplace. Timing, pricing, quality, support, marketing, and sales acumen play an equally important role in the success of any high-tech product.
