Author:
Alan Hutton, National Semiconductor, Germany

Synopsis:

Development tools for embedded controllers come in many shapes and forms but one thing is clear! They all need to be affordable and re-usable in terms of both software and hardware with the value added features of being compact and portable. Consequently, Universal Serial Bus (USB) based in-circuit debuggers are fast becoming the defacto norm these days for low cost development tools across the embedded control industry. By offering a number of hardware interfaces, they are designed to offer a simple hardware solution capable of meeting key requirements in a small low-cost form factor.

This article highlights just one of the latest USB stick-based tools from Hitex Development Tools with control software and debugger to support the latest ARM7™ embedded controller from NXP.
