H.264 (from ITU-T, also called as H.264/AVC) is a popular video-coding algorithm enabling high quality multimedia services on a limited bandwidth network. It was developed by the ITU-T Video Coding Experts Group (VCEG) together with the ISO/IEC Moving Picture Experts Group (MPEG). The input to decoder should be H.264 encoded bit stream. The output of decoder is a YUV sequence, 420 planar format. Consilient's H.264 decoder is designed to efficiently utilize the multi-media processing engine (SIMD) and L1 and L2 cache architectures of Cortex family.
