Digital media is being rapidly adopted as the primary consumer and home entertainment medium. The technical demands of the digital home and the need to deliver rich audio and video content have increased dramatically over the past years. Digital Transmission Content Protection (DTCP) is a key technology that protects high-value digital content and allows users to experience high-quality audio and video content. DTCP-IP is a component of the DTCP technology and it targets Internet Protocol (IP) based networks and applications.
The DTCP-IP security framework is designed to protect premium digital content such as high-definition movies, pay-per-view television or music against theft while the content is moved from a server onto the target device such as a PC, cell phone, tablet, or gaming device. The standard was recently updated to support Blu-Ray DVD players and wireless high-definition and is now the cornerstone content protection technology used by the Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MOCA) and Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) for secure distribution of high value or premium digital content.
The ESW-01: DTCP-IP SDK is Elliptic’s solution for DTCP-IP support which is now a mandatory requirement for DLNA compatible products and applies to many Digital Rights Management (DRM) and content protection solutions. The ESW-01 DTCP-IP SDK implements version 1.31 of the DTCP-IP standard and contains a comprehensive set of functions and sample applications.
The solution integrates seamlessly within frameworks such as ARM TrustZone®, where the critical security components are embedded in a trusted and secure OS environment. The non-critical components are executed by the rich OS, such as Android.
