Elliptic’s CLP-403 security core supports the SNOW 3G confidentiality and integrity modes as specified by the 3GPP standards. The Release 7 standard is governed by a European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) document - SNOW 3G Algorithm Specification Version 1.1 and these algorithms are known as UEA2 (encryption) and UIA2 (integrity). Releases 8, 9, 10 and 11 refer to these algorithms as 128-EEA1 and 128-EIA1. The differences between these releases and Release 7 do not affect the hardware core. In addition, Elliptic's CLP-41: Snow 3G Flow Through Core implements a flow-through or in-line version of the core although the core can also be provided as a look-aside engine. The security core is silicon proven and shipped in millions of units as a standalone core, or as a component of Elliptic’s security protocol accelerators and processors.
The CLP-403 also integrates seamlessly in ARM-based SOCs and enables designers to efficiently balance: power, performance, and silicon area.
