AES Ciphers
 
The SafeXcel™ IP AES Accelerators are designed to meet the unique requirements of semiconductor manufacturers and provide unmatched reliability, fast integration, low gate count, cost-effectiveness, and maximum performance.  Part of AuthenTec's broad IP design product portfolio, the SafeXcel IP AES Accelerators are typically deployed in processors used in networking and storage appliances that require hardware acceleration for strong cryptography-based security.
 
The SafeXcel IP AES Accelerators implement the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) algorithm, as specified in Federal Information Processing Standard (FIPS) Publication 197 and the modes specified in NIST Special Publications SP800-38A, SP800-38B, SP800-38E, SP800-38D, and SP800-38E. The accelerators include I/O registers, encryption and decryption cores, and the logic for feedback modes and key scheduling. Cores are available in several performance grades, as well as configuration options, from the AES-ECB mode only SafeXcel-IP-32 to the AES-CCM mode SafeXcel-IP-39.
 
SafeXcel-IP-32
ECB mode, basic AES accelerators
 
The SafeXcel-IP-32 accelerates AES in ECB mode as specified in FIPS-197. It implements a key scheduler and supports 128, 192 and 256 bit AES keys. The core is available in three performance grades (the smallest one is just 10K gates) and available in encrypt/decrypt or encrypt only versions.

 SafeXcel-IP-36
ECB/CBC/CTR/CFB/OFB mode AES accelerators The SafeXcel-IP-36 accelerates AES in ECB, CBC, CTR, 128 bit OFB and 1, 8 and 128 bits CFB modes as specified in FIPS-197, and NIST SP800-38A. It implements a key scheduler and supports 128, 192 and 256 bit AES keys in all modes. The core is available in three performance grades (the smallest one is just 20K gates) and available in encrypt/decrypt or encrypt only versions.
 
SafeXcel-IP-37
AES key wrap accelerators
The SafeXcel-IP-37 accelerates the AES key wrap algorithm as specified in NIST and reflected in RFC3394. It implements a key scheduler and supports 128, 192 and 256 bit AES keys. The core is available in three performance grades (the smallest one is just 25K gates), support multiple IV loading options, has support for two ECC bits and offers unwrap result verification.
 
SafeXcel-IP-38 
AES-GCM/XTS/LRW  accelerators
The SafeXcel-IP-38 accelerates combined one pass confidentially and integrity security modes such as AES-GCM, AES-LRW and AES-XTS and basic GHASH modes as specified by NIST SP800-38D and SP-800-38E. The AES-XTS mode supports the Cipher Text Stealing option of XTS.
