The CM-i.MX31B is based on Freescale's high performance i.MX31 mobile processing platform, incorporating an ARM11™ core and VFP (floating point Unit), as well as the most complete list of on-chip peripherals. With the MC13783 audio and power management chip, DDR-RAM, NAND and NOR Flash devices, the module is the world's smallest, fully featured mobile platform reference design suitable for demanding multimedia or industrial applications and designed for extended battery life and very low power dissipation applications.
The modules unique features are the 400 balls (BGA) on the bottom of the board reducing the cost by avoiding connectors on the core module and baseboard. Mechanical advantages are the lower board-to-board stacking capabilities and the better suitability on space constraint or harsh environments.
The CM-i.MX31B is identical to the CM-i.MX31C besides the missing Ethernet Controller and the additional Intel NOR Flash which is mounted at the Bottom of the Connector version.
