The NetComposer-1TM (NC-1) is a highly integrated SoC platform that combines Faraday's industry leading Metal Programmable Cell ArrayTM (MPCA) Structured ASIC technology with intelligent system blocks. Semiconductor and OEM companies can use the NC-1 as a foundation platform for architecting their next generation ASSP or ASICs in market segments such as networking, communications, computing, server, storage, and security appliances. The NC-1 structured ASIC has been architecturally optimized for applications that demand high performance L4-L7 Flow-through PCI-X to GbE or full-duplex in-line GbE to GbE data path processing. With 1/3 the NRE costs, and 1/3 the production lead time of a typical 0.13um ASIC, the NC-1 combines high performance, low development costs and fast time to market attributes - all in one platform.
The NC-1 has a unique data path design while it integrates several pre-verified IP blocks. The integration results in a significant reduction in system verification time while helping design teams focus on their value-added applications. Customers can differentiate their ASSP/ASIC products designed with NC-1 by customizing the chip's MPCA block that can host up to 1M MPCA NAND2 equivalent usable gates of application logic. The MPCA allows designers to rapidly introduce derivative products by leveraging a common architecture, facilitating product positioning in several market segments that have different requirements. Designers can conveniently use their existing ASIC flow and EDA tools to design and synthesize their application logic to MPCA libraries provided by Faraday.
The NC-1 is offered to customers with an evaluation board, in addition to documentation and MPCA design libraries.
