Cirrus Logic Seven Series by Cirrus Logic

Semiconductor Vendor with ARM Processor RTL license from ARM

Product Description

Cirrus Logic® offers a range ARM720T™ core-based SoC products that are designed for a wide variety of applications including digital entertainment, embedded control, communications and mobile devices. This Seven Series combines very high processor speeds with ultra-low power requirements, which makes the product line an ideal choice for applications where long battery life is a critical factor in product design. The Seven Series also offers MaverickKey™, a unique 32-bit ID that can be used for digital rights management, design IP protection and other applications where security is a concern.

Incorporated in the Seven Series is an advanced memory management unit that supports sophisticated operating systems such as Microsoft® Windows® CE and Linux. Cirrus Logic has developed a full range of device drivers that fully support both of these powerful operating system environments. This speeds time to market by minimizing the designer’s software development requirements. Complementing the Seven Series system driver support, Cirrus Logic also maintains an extensive third party network that offers a wide range of audio CODECs, system development and application debug tools.

The Seven Series core-logic functionality is built around an ARM720T processor running at clock speeds up to 90 MHz and 74 MHz with 8 KB of four-way, set-associative, unified cache and a write buffer.
The product line is designed for ultra-low-power operation. Its core operates at only 2.5 V, while it’s input/output has an operational range of 2.5 V to 3.3 V. The family has three basic power states: operating, idle, and standby.
Simply by adding the desired memory and peripherals to these highly integrated processors completes a low-power system solution. All necessary interface logic is integrated on-chip.
The EP7309 and EP7312 integrate a digital audio interface to enable a direct connection to many low-cost, high-quality, Cirrus Logic audio converters.
