i.MX27 by Freescale

Semiconductor Vendor with ARM Processor RTL license from ARM

Product Description

Based on the ARM926EJ-S™ core, the i.MX27 processor provide a robust feature set that gives design engineers many options for video formats security, power management and connectivity.

The i.MX27 processor features include an H.264 hardware codec for D1 high resolution video processing, Ethernet 10/100 MAC, security, plug-and-play connectivity, and power management features. It is an excellent choice for video surveillance systems, video and voice over Internet Protocol (V2IP) phones, cordless and mobile phones with displays, intelligent remote controls, point-of-sale terminals and many other consumer, industrial, medical and general purposed embedded applications with LCD displays.

The i.MX27 processors incorporate Freescale’s platform independent security architecture, a combination of security features that provides a high level of confidence for carriers, content providers and consumers. The i.MX27 processors security architecture is a blended hardware/software solution. Security features include:

* Memory management unit (MMU)
* Security controller (SCC), including secure RAM and security monitor
* Random number generator accelerator (RNGA)
* Unique universal identification
* Run-time tntegrity checker (RTIC)
* Crypto accelerator
* IC identification module (IIM) with e-fuses
* High assurance boot (HAB)
* Tamper detection

For carriers, the security architecture provides protection features to help guard against malicious service attacks, theft of services, configuration protection and concerns with cloning. For content providers, it helps block illegal access to licensed content, thereby protecting against unauthorized use and distribution. And for consumers, private data is designed to be inaccessible, helping protect against identify theft.

The i.MX27 processor supports 10 and 100 Mbps Ethernet/802.3 networks, and have two USB On-the-Go hosts. They also support connectivity to a wide range of external devices, including cameras, displays and much more.

The i.MX27 processor is available in two speed grades: 400 MHz at 1.45 V and 266 MHz at 1.2 V. They are manufactured in 90 nm CMOS technology and come in a 404 balls, 0.65 nm pitch, 17 mm x 17 mm package.
