Open-Silicon provides ARM processor hardening, subsystem design, and integration, leading edge ASIC design, open market IP integration, and high quality silicon manufacturing services to customers worldwide. As a fabless ASIC company, Open-Silicon focuses on delivering the most cost-effective, predictable and reliable custom ASIC solutions. We partner with customers using flexible models that sometimes include full turnkey development from spec handoffs, and sometimes include only manufacturing services to take advantage of our volume foundry, test, and packaging pricing. Since its founding in 2003, the company has focused on raising the bar on ASIC execution, measuring the quality of our engineering work and our ability to hit customer schedules and reporting that to the board of directors at every board meeting. Our executive salaries are paid based upon those metrics, too, ensuring that the entire organization is focused on getting the customer's silicon built on time, and correctly.

Fully custom silicon that wins in the market requires more than industry standard EDA tools, since the competition is also using those tools. Open-Silicon has invested in R&D to create a series of products called the MAX Technologies to allow customers to take their design to the next level. CoreMAX is about building the fastest processors in the ASIC world. At the heart of CoreMAX is Zenasis Technologies’ patented processor optimization software, which consists of over 2 million lines of C++ code to extract an extra 5-10% performance out of every ASIC processor implementation. PowerMAX focuses on technologies to optimize dynamic and static power consumption. VariMAX brings back-biasing down from the 100 million unit design space and makes that technology available to ASIC customers today. Finally, with VariMAX customers can manage process variation and save power, increase yields, and improve performance.

Until now, complete choice for every step in the process of designing and manufacturing a custom ASIC has not been fully realized. The OpenMODEL revolutionizes the ASIC supply chain by allowing customers to be involved in the supply chain choices that not only reduce costs, but dramatically improve the chances of right-first-time silicon.
