SUNNYVALE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 17, 2003--Artisan Components, Inc., (Nasdaq:ARTI), a leading provider of physical intellectual property (IP), today announced that it has opened a new product development center, Artisan Components Software Pvt. Ltd., located in Bangalore, India. The new India center is the latest in a series of growth initiatives Artisan has implemented that includes doubling its headcount since mid-2002. This expansion is a result of an increase in Artisan's user community as well as in the number of key manufacturers licensing its products.
The Bangalore center is Artisan's third major development center and complements its existing centers in San Diego and Sunnyvale, California. The facility provides added product research, development and customer support capabilities and allows Artisan to provide 24x7 support to its growing, global user community.
Artisan has appointed Guru Ganesan, a twenty-year veteran in the EDA/ASIC design industry, as managing director of its Bangalore Development Center. Ganesan joined Artisan when it acquired Synopsys' Physical Library Business, where he was director of engineering. Prior to Synopsys, Ganesan held management positions with Texas Instruments, Cadence Design Systems and Valid Logic Systems. Ganesan holds a MSEE degree from Madras Institute of Technology, India.
"India is a strategic location for Artisan," said Mark Templeton, president and CEO of Artisan Components. "In addition to the region's strong technology infrastructure and growing semiconductor design community, there are a wealth of well trained, talented engineers. We welcome our Bangalore staff and are confident that they will contribute to Artisan's success."
