Study shows 43 per cent of respondents considering ARM processors for their next design.
The 2009 TechInsights Embedded Market Study has revealed that 43 per cent of respondents are considering using ARM processors for their next design. This represents almost a 23 per cent increase on the result from 2008, and is ten percentage points ahead of the next most popular processor vendor.
The survey also confirmed the growth of designs based on 32-bit processors, with 60 per cent of respondents’ current projects based on 32-bit processors, compared to just 17 per cent based on 16-bit processors and 16 per cent on 8-bit processors.
The Embedded Market Study was conducted in February 2009. TechInsights polled 1500+ subscribers to TechInsights’ Embedded publications including Embedded Systems Design, EE Times, and Embedded Systems Design Europe. The results of the survey were revealed to a selective audience at the Embedded Systems Conference in San Jose last week, and will be the subject of a webinar to be broadcast on April 21st.
